News from October 2009
October 17 - Command Point - Well, the five of us were a bit busy on this 23 mile race. winds varied from 6 knots to gust just over the 20 knot barrier. We led the down wind run and a good portion of the upwind leg. We completed the course in 3 hours and 45 minutes, with an overall course average of 6.24 knots of boatspeed. We corrected on the first boat to finish, but got caught by Intuition, so we settled for 2nd. Thom, Tim C and G, and Aubre had to work hard riding the rail back to the finish. But it was a great time. Oh yeah, and a top speed of 11.3 Knots reaching across Commencement Bay.
Well, it was not exactly October, but we did get the CYCT Point Series off to a great start in late September. With a wind ranging from 5 to 18, from both the north and the south, our trip to Pt. Beals was exciting. We were first to the turn mark and first to get home in the race, completing the first to finish, first in class, and first overall. It was thanks to great crew work and a bunch of work on the bottom. We corrected over the second place boat by over 20 minutes. Thanks to all who participated
PSSC - October 10 / 11. For the first time since purchasing the boat we decided to go up and do 2 day bouy racing at CYC Seattle. Our hope was to be racing some Flying Tigers, instead, we got to race in P-1 with all the big boats..... We had a great series in which we beat every boat in the class at least once (Except the Class Winner Banshee). Our final finish was in a tie for 5th with 2 other boats, winning one tie breaker and losing one, for a final place of 6th in the 13 boat fleet. Not bad for the smallest boat in the class. Highlights include some wins (and losses) by only 4 seconds or less and great crew work. Thanks for all of the effort, and for our visit from SF Steve for the series
